JAKARTA, The banks that want to cultivate micro business sector small and medium (SME) must have the commitment, concept, preparation technology, and human resources in accordance with the characteristics of this sector financing.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Muliaman D Hadad said today almost all banks want to work on SMEs.

"All the leading banks there, including big as Bank Mandiri and BTN. They want to fit into that sector. That is, people see the corporate sector was affected by the financial crisis. On the other hand, SMEs see there is still great potential," he told Bisnis.com in Jakarta, today.

He reminded to handle these sectors do not just do. However, he said, required commitment, concept, preparation technology, and human resources in accordance with the characteristics of this sector financing.

"This should not be regarded as something to while ago, because people are not used to dealing with SMEs will be different. So some banks have set up a better infrastructure."

According to Muliaman, BI responded positively when many banks want to wrestle that sector. SME sector, he said, contribute sufficient profits for the banks.

"There are two important issues related to the rise of banks into this sector. First, the competition can be seen from the aspect of the consumer because prices will be cheaper. And what is important is the millions of small businesses benefit from access to financial institutions closer, easier, and varied. "

Even so, he argued, there is the dark side of the competition because there is winning and losing. Some banks that do not have high competitiveness is often complain.

"They say 'we do not protected from entry of big banks'. This is especially experienced by the BPR, BPR. Well, this is what we want to find a way out. We always put forward the principle of partnership. If the existing BPR first in one area, commercial banks can not go away. We want a partnership in which the commercial banks to help BPR through linkage programs."
